Thookkam, also known as Arjuna Nritham, is a folk dance performance by
men. The narrative is mainly based on the Mahabharatha.
Legend has it that after the victory of the Pandava, the vallant Arjuna danced in worship before the goddess 'Kaali'.
The dancers, representing the Pandavas and Krishna, wear skirts made of peacock feathers, thus imparting an eye-catching colour and grace to the performance.
Mayilppeeli Thookkam is performed to the accompaniment of drums and cymbals.
